Links to MIDI sites and files, and so on.
But a site put up really more to just explain the basics of
uploading/downloading MIDI to UseNet newsgroups, problems/features
of various newsreaders, how to ask
for MIDI files, and more.
Interesting stuff about what is midi, what sequencers might you use, and so
on, with a long section on the ever popular - can I convert wave to midi?
(with a list of all avail. programs to do this, as well as they are able).
UseNet Newsgroups
The two groups in one may ask questions, discuss problems
with MIDI hook-ups, things to do with future industry developments,
and whatever, at:
Sound Canvas Users Group.
Run by Gary Agnew, Gord Braun, and David Peters.
Original MIDIs for the Roland, info, how to get on the mailing list,
and so on.
If you have a mind to try programming MIDI, it can be
challenging, to say the least.
But this guy has put together a bunch of C++ routines
and simple apps to get you up and running real fast.
The book is called,
Maximum MIDI.
And if you do buy the book, the author has his own
web board,
to help answer your questions, one on one.
It's a good deal.
Some interesting Windows/DOS MIDI and SysEx utilities,
particularly if you want to start writing programs for MIDI,
yourself
(there's a fair amount of source code included in all these).
